ARTISTIC BIOGRAPHY
Kathleen Bendelack is the founder of Petite Production Company, a local-based British actress, writer, director, and author of children’s books. She has been presenting theatre in Mallorca for around 17 years, mainly in English, with a focus on the classics.
Her productions have included numerous Shakespeare plays, Jekyll and Hyde, Frankenstein, Front Page, The Other Lolas, and many more, performed in the auditorium as well as in public theatres across Mallorca, Ibiza, and the mainland Spain. In recent years, Kathleen has also created her own adaptations and original works, including, “Playing Dickens,” commissioned in June 2025 in a public theatre. Suitable for all ages, the play explores Dickens’s world through a dreamlike, musical lens.
Kathleen now presents her latest work: a new adaptation of Tennessee Williams’s “A Streetcar Named Desire,” which is also commissioned for a public theatre. Featuring a pianist, singer, and live percussion, the adaptation tells the story with a few added twists, while preserving Williams’s literary brilliance.

Ha llevado a escena obras de Shakespeare, Jekyll and Hyde, Frankenstein y creaciones propias como Playing Dickens (2025) y las Otras Lolas, romcom escrita y dirigida (2018). Su trabajo más reciente es una nueva adaptación de Un tranvía llamado deseo de Tennessee Williams, con música en directo.

Our current repertoire features Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire and the original play Playing Dickens. Both productions were performed in public theatres in 2025, receiving enthusiastic audiences and critical appreciation.
A Streetcar Named Desire, performed in English and enhanced with music and inventive adaptations by Kathleen Bendelack, remains as relevant today as when it was written, a testament to its enduring power and insight into human nature. Following its successful run, the production is set to tour mainland Spain in 2026, likely visiting the Basque Country, bringing this timeless masterpiece to new audiences.

In 2025, I also created and performed my original play Playing Dickens, inspired by Great Expectations and the figure of Charles Dickens himself. It was a demanding and deeply rewarding challenge, in which I played both Dickens and Pip. The piece aimed to shed light on Dickens not only as a literary giant, but also as a great humanitarian.
En 2025 también creé e interpreté mi obra original Playing Dickens, inspirada en Grandes esperanzas y en la figura de Charles Dickens. Fue un reto exigente y profundamente gratificante, en el que interpreté tanto a Dickens como a Pip. La obra buscaba iluminar a Dickens no solo como genio literario, sino también como un gran humanista.

I have also worked in film, writing screenplays and creating several short films. Among them is a pilot for an eight-episode series I wrote a few years ago, set in Mallorca. The story follows two sisters—an odd-couple relationship that is funny, tragic, and deeply real. Raw, sharp, and slightly acidic in tone, the project has also been developed in Spanish.
También he trabajado en cine, escribiendo guiones y creando varios cortometrajes. Entre ellos se encuentra el piloto de una serie de ocho episodios que escribí hace algunos años, ambientada en Mallorca. La historia sigue a dos hermanas, una relación de “pareja dispareja” que es cómica, trágica y profundamente real. Cruda, afilada y con un tono ligeramente ácido, la obra también ha sido desarrollada en español
